Yesterday
Yesterday I got my title transferred at the DMV and i got to take my car home finally. It was so sick! I couldn't enjoy it though because I had to leave for work as soon as I got home. When I got home from work, it was dark so I couldn't do much with my car again. Today after school I'm going to explore it some more and set up my radio stations.

Pets
Yes, I have two dogs. One named Charlie, and the other named Raven. I love charlie with all of my heart. But I want to light Raven on fire at times because she will never ever stop barking at nothing. But I do love Raven too because she's pretty cute. I do want both of them because my house would feel empty without them.

TED Talk 5
1) Phil Plait
2) It was about astriods and how we can avoid them hitting our planet. We now have a 1-2 ton craft that is able to very slowly change the direction of an astroid so it will miss our planet if we ever have a threat of one coming towards us.
3) This talk did change the way I think because I never really thought about our planet being in danger of something coming down and crashing into it like what happened to the dinosaurs. I'm relieved to hear that we have ways of protecting us from them.

Thanksgiving
The best part of thanksgiving is getting time to eat a lot of food with family. There is a lot of food, but the best part is that it's a lot of good food. I also like Thanksgiving because that means it's almost Christmas time.

$1 Million
If I had a million dollars, I would put aside enough money for college and a nice car. I would save enough to pay for everything my car needs like gas, insurance, tags, etc. With the left over money I would obviously spend some on myself. I would also take my mom out to dinner because I like paying for my mom for a change.

During class today I made the sickest menu ever. The only problem was that my shape got cut in half due to a glitch or something. It still looks pretty cool though.

About writing to my teachers
It made me realize how much I like my teachers; the good ones at least. I enjoy having good teachers that have a good attitude towards us students. I believe it helps us learn better.

Letter To Teacher
Dear Teacher,
Every year we get new teachers, which means we take another risk of getting one who doesn't care about us. For the most part, I've noticed that I can learn a lot more smoothly from those who actually do care. Those types of teachers spend extra time to make sure you get the most out of the class in a way they know we will understand easier. Some make tests that are purposely hard to understand, just to make us fail. Others give super easy ones that don't help us learn. I think a good teacher will give us a test that challenges us, but does not makes us shut down. They can do this by helping us prepare for test during class. Or encouraging us to study by offering us something; we shouldn't require a prize to do something that benefits us in the future, but unfortunately, some students need it. Homework is one of the easiest ways to keep a good grade, but a lot of the time, students (including myself) sometimes are too lazy to do it. My life outside of school is manageable. I do have a job which takes up a lot of my time, but I always have enough time to do things for school; even though sometimes I choose not to spend the time on homework. During class, I like to do stuff involving a group so we can become socialable, which helps for the future when we get into the real world. Working helps with that because I socialize with different types of people all the time.

What I like about myself.
I like how I can get good grades in school. This will eventually lead to a easier life.

Ken Robinson
It was interesting and very true. School has turned into a place where they take us in and spit us out afterwords. When we are spit out we are either going to be successful or unsuccessful in life. People who make and pass laws usually don't care about what they are doing as long as they remain wealthy.

TED
1. Who gave the talk and what does the person do?
Nathalie Miebach, she explains about the art of storms.
2. Write a brief summary of the talk?
She changes storms into a diagram that show different elements to the storm; high tide, moon phases, air temperature, and water temperature are all elements that are put into the diagram. She can also change the storm into music notes, which then can be turned into music.
3. Did the talk change the way you see the world?
Yes, I never pictured a storm could be turned into musical notes.

Money or Life
I would choose the unlimited money because if I was able to live forever I would get tired of living, but if I had money, I could live an enjoyable life and pass on my money to my family.

Money
Today I get paid and my check should be about $160 and that will mean I'll have around $1,200 in my bank so I'm pretty excited. I'm buying a car in december so I'll hopefully have close to $2,000 by december because on top of my job money I'll have birthday money too. My birthday is December 3rd.

Half day
This Friday is a half day which means I may be able to take my driver's test. The chance of this happening is kind of slim but it may happen. I'm going to talk with my mom about it tonight and hopefully she says yes because my permit is going to expire in less than a month.

Graphic Design Principles
1. Balance around the optical center:
The optical center is the place where the viewer's eye spends the most time which is achieved through equal "weights" in all directions from the optical center.
2. Balance the Weight of Graphic Elements:
The "weight" of a graphic element is determined to it's size and density. Basically darker colors add more weight like-wise lighter colors make it look less heavy.
3. Balance Positive and Negative Space:
Positive space refers to places where visual information is, and negative space refers to where it isn't. A design that contains more negative space than positive space is sometimes desired by people because it balances their work better.
4. Balance Color:
Schemes are based on color wheels which you can use for balancing colors in your graphic design.
5. Beware of Individual Color Idiosyncrasies:
Colors of high value "bleed" into into surround regions, which can make your design blurry. The color red is very sensitive and you should be careful with it.
6. Use Color to Create Memorable Moods:
If you want to create a pleasant mood in your design the best colors to use are warm colors such as yellow, orange, or red. If you want a quieter mood you should use colors such as green, blue, or purple.
7. Save Bright or Saturated Colors for Special Uses:
Bright colors such as red tend to draw the viewers attention immediately. They are especially useful for an error message, annotations, or urgent commands.
8. Blue is for Backgrounds:
It is very difficult to distinguish details (such as typed words) that are outlined in shades of pure blue. For this reason, blue text, thin blue lines, and small blue things generally should be avoided.
9. Red & Green for Central Elements:
When you want people to focus on the optical center of your piece then reds and greens provide additional perceptual cues.
10. Consider Perceptual Disabilities:
Among the colors and color distinctions that individuals may find difficult or impossible to perceive are: red, green, and blue (total color blindness). Males are ten times more likely to be color blind than females.
11. Use Italics Sparingly:
Using italics often make something you're typing harder to read which have tiring effects and and just may look bad in general.
12. Use Typefaces Consistently:
Typefaces requires the eye to focus differently, requiring the brain to use different processing capabilities. This could be tiring and reduce reader energy.
13. Shape of Type Affects Cognition:
The way you shape words affects the cognition as much as what you choose as your typeface. For example IF YOU USE ALL CAPITAL IT PROVIDES FEWER VISUAL CUES.
14. Density of Type Affects Reader Attention:
If you're typing in densly-packed, small letters it usually tells the viewer than it's serious business. If it's more spread out it will tell the reader it's a more friendly set of words.
15. Create a Rhythm:
Repetitions of similar graphic elements can create a visual rhythm that a reader will understand as a sense of organization and unity in your work.
16. Maintain Visual Consistency:
While creating rhythms and variations from page to page, you must also remember to maintain an overall aesthetic integrity. The purpose of graphic design is to communicate, not to dazzle.
17. Use Graphics To Supplement Non-Visual Information:
New material is processed and understood most effectively when it is given a number of different representations. Graphics can be used to add mental dimensions.
18. Don't Let Graphics Distract:
Graphics are unnecessary if the text itself prompts the formation of mental images.
19. Use Icons for Recognizable Concepts:
In general, recognizing is takes less brain power than remembering. Use icons that can quickly stimulate necessary recollections of familiar material.
20. Consider the Gestalt of Perceptual Organization:
Understanding gestaltic organized principles can be of considerable aid when designing the layout of visual information.

Occupy Wall Street
I think it's cool that we're finally deciding to do something about our corrupt government. What's happening right now is that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. The space inbetween the rich and poor is getting bigger and bigger. This event is happening all over the world in many cities.

Yesterday
Yesterday I had to work at Safeway and I was really busy. Zac Kwaad was told to only to stock/organize the shelfs and wasn't aloud to help with carts and sweeps. I had to do carts, sweeps, bagging, dusting, helping customers, taking out all the trash in the whole store, and do go-backs. So it was pretty busy yesterday.

Today
Today after school I got work at 5. I work from 5 to 10 so I'm closing which means i have a lot to do. I have to lock the east doors in safeway and announce it over the intercom. I also have to collect all the trash in the store and take it to the dumpster. Around 9 I have to start doing go backs which means putting items back that customers didn't want. Once I'm done with that if it isn't 10 yet I help my manager stock shelfs.

Who: Sunni Brown
What about: How doodling can help improve our comprehension and our creative thinking.
What did you learn: The actual definition of "to doodle" is to make spontaneous marks to help yourself think.

Who: Carolyn Porco
What about: Saturn
What did you learn: We sent a man-made machine to the plant Saturn and it arrived in 2004. This was the furthest distance from the sun anyone has sent a man-made machine. When we got to Titan, a moon near Saturn we discovered it was covered by haze and methane and other chemicals so dense that sunlight couldn't get to the surface of it. We couldn't get pictures of the surface because it was so thick so we couldn't get a clear picture of it. We finally got super cameras that could see through the smog and haze and to our amazment we found that it only had a few crators which means it was fairly new.

When I get home I'm going to read my book called The Hunger Games. It's a really cool book and doesn't lose my attention at all. It has a lot of great details and ideas. It's about a girl named Katniss and her little sister gets picked at random to fight in "The Hunger Games" along with other kids from the ages 12-18. Katniss couldnt stand the thought and takes her little sister's place. I havn't gotten that far into the book yet so I'm not sure what's going to happen.

Holidays!!!
My favorite holiday is Christmas because I love the temperature. When I lived in Oregon it snowed and I really enjoyed the holiday feeling. Christmas is a day you get to open gifts and hang out with family which is really cool. Christmas is also in the same month of my birthday. I prefer cold weather over warm but in Arizona its usually really hot. During December it feels really good outside though.

The most impacting person
I think the person who has had the most impact on my life other than family is my friend Nate. Nate and I have known each other for a long time and he has taught me a lot about life in the years I've known him. He's one of those guys who believe in fairness and doing the right thing. For example if he saw someone steal something from a store, he would pay for the thing they stole with his own money. He's a pretty cool guy!

Ugly President
I don't think our country would elect an ugly president because they're our leader. He is supposed to be a example of what people should be like, and an ugly president wouldn't really show that. You never know though because we had never elected a black president until our current one.

Yesterday
Yesterday I planned on going straight home, but I ended up going to work for 3 hours. When I was there, it was pretty slow and this guy named mike left to get food. We only did one car while he was gone. Mike almost popped a car wheel by running over this metal pole but he dgaf'ed and just kept on going. It all turned out being fine though.

My weekend
I worked a lot this weekend. On Saturday I had to call into my job at Bj's auto spa so I could work at Safeway. I worked for 5 hours and when I got off work I went to a ASU football game with my mom. She works at ASU so she gets free tickets for the games. During the game a Haboob hit the statium, it was pretty cool. Everyone started to throw paper in the air so there was trash flying around above the statium for like 30 minutes. On Sunday I worked from 7:30am to 3:30pm at Bj's and then from 5:00pm to 10:00pm at safeway.

Who gave the talk?
Susan Savage
What was subject and summary? This talk was about the species : Banohbeu. This is a species of apes and they are very much like humans in a sexual way. Banohbeus have an easier time walk on two legs than the chimpanzees. They are very intelligent and learn very easily just by watching someone do it.
Did you learn something from the talk?
I learned a lot about this magnificient creature while watching this video. The mother Banohbeu normally grooms their baby with they hands in the wild, but after letting them see how to use scissors they started grooming their children by cutting their hair with scissors. They have a language of their own. They have a chart with symbols on it that mean different words. The Banohbeus write on the ground with chalk to let the humans know they wanted to go for a walk.
Did the talk make you think or change your mind?
This video talk made me realize how smart monkies are and what they're capable of.

School Spirit
I think dressing up is sick! It's fun to look at what people wear. I personally don't dress up because it's not really my thing but I do participate once in a way for like blue out day or whatever because I actually have the clothes for it. I don't want to go out and buy the stuff for spirit day because I don't want to spend money since I'm trying to buy a car right now.

Test 2
1. The purpose of the spot healing brush tool is to blend colors to match. For example, to get rid of bumps on your forehead in a picture.
2. It will make no changes to the picture you're using it on.
6. The magic wand tool, because they both select a certain color when you click on an image.
Feedback:
I think there was enough time to learn the tools. I believe I did learn the tools well enough. Maybe showing us a little more from your screen to explain the purpose of the tool would help me learn a little more in the future.

My favorite place to eat
My favorite place to eat is probably at my grandparents house. She makes really good food. Both of my grandparents do come to think of it. They make completely different foods from each other. My grandma on my mom's side is 100% japanese so her type of food is more asian. On my dad's side my grandma is more italian so she makes a lot of pastas.

My Day!!!!!
Today after school I need to finish a power point presentation for my enviornmental science class. I need to do it about a pest in my world. In the presentation I need to explain what the pest's purpose is in the world. I'm doing mine on rats and I found out that they do actually have a purpose. In the wild rats eat grains and other seeds and some of their food sticks to their fur and it transfers to a new location.

Yesterday
Yesterday I worked for my first day at Safeway. When I got there I got introduced to a lot of the main things to look out for. I was waiting to recieve my worker's I.D. number so I could punch in the time schedule. As I was waiting this other courtesy clerk that has been there for 3 months came into the room and introduced himself to me. We talked for a while and he gave me a lot of good tips. Throughout the day he showed me how to do a lot of the stuff my job required. When I was working I had to do these things called sweeps which are going through the store and checking if anything needs to be sweeped up or cleaned up. I have to do 1 sweep every hour. I also bagged groceries a lot of the time I was working. Another main part of my job was to collect shopping carts.

Yesterday, I went into Safeway for my job training at 1:00. When I got there I walked around the store trying to just get a basic understanding of where everything was located. After I was done I when up to my manager so I could fill out the I-9 forms and get my job training. She got me started and I started watching the videos. There was a series of videos that were from 10 minutes, to 50 minutes. I had to watch about 20 of them. I was there from 1:00 to 7:40 in the evening. I did learn a lot though so it was worth the time.

Test 1
1. The slice tool is used for taking part of an image and moving it to a new location.
5. The tolerance is the amount of flexibility that it has. The higher the tolerance, the more space will be selected. Likewise the lower it is, the less space will be selected due to it being more strict about the color.
8. The ruler is used for measuring a length on a image. You use it by selecting the edge of an image and moving your mouse to the other side of the image you are measuring. The purpose of this tool is to measure the length of an image.
My opinion of the test.
This test was fair for my skills. I did fine when asked to learn on my own, although I find it easier for you to show us. My overall experience was that it was kinda stressful keeping up with the test, but I did it anyways.

Friday
Today I get paid from my car wash job. It's going to about $200.00, but I'm very excited because it's the first pay check that I've ever gotten in my life. I'm trying to buy a car so after I get paid I'll have about 500 dollars and I worked an extra 2 weeks so I'll get another 200 dollars from that. I also got a new job at Safeway as a curtesty clerk makiung $7.35 an hour. I get a minimum of 20 hours a week so that's pretty cool.

Most important thing.
The most important thing in my life other than my family is my friends. Without friends I think you would go crazy. Suicide is a problem and people who are different that don't have many friends tend to not have as much self confidence as people who do. Therefore they are more likely to commit suicide. Another example is if you and your friends get into a fight and you stop hanging out with them, and you don't have anyone else to talk to, then you would be bored. Friends are a very important part of my life and I love meeting new people.

Voting!
When I am older I am going to vote. I want to help choose who is going to be running our country. I've never really been excited to be a voter but I would vote. 1 vote does matter so hopefully I'll be able to make a difference. I havn't really researched what kind of people I want running the country but maybe when I get closer to being able to vote ill get more into it. Right now I would not vote even if I could because i'm not really sure what my choice would be.

Journal Entry
This weekend I worked for the third week at my job at BJ's. I get paid this coming Friday and it should be about $200.00 or more. This will help me with buying a car. I'm planning on getting a car by December. By then I should have about $1200.00 plus my mom said she would pitch in $500.00 if I needed it. I should get a decient car with that amount. I'm planning on getting a Honda CRX, but probably won't due to my money limit. That would be really cool if I ended up getting one that runs good.

School Pride
School pride is kind of like talking about how great your school is and attending all the school events. People who dress up for spirit day and help out with student government. Wearing your school's logo or objects that are from your school is showing school pride. I've never really had school pride in the sense that I dress up for spirit day but I do wear Deer Valley stuff and I'm proud to say I go to DV.

SCHOOL
If I could change something about my experience at school it would be lunch. I want french fries back and I want the regular sized cups from freshman year. I'm a junior now so that means from 2 years ago. Also the pink lemonaid is literally 80% water and 15% lemonaid and 5% pink. I think we should have an asian section in our cafeteria. We have sub sandwiches, pizza, chicken sandwiches, mexcan bar, and once in a while in our random food of the day area we have like pasta or turkey and mashed potatoes. We never have asain food like rice or sushi. I also think they should supply us with chop sticks for us asains who had to take a summer class on how to use a fork. I would bring chop sticks to school, but then I might get made fun of by bullies. Okay that's all for today! BYE

Poems
The sky so blue,
But has the flu,
It doesn't know what to do,
So it called whinnie the poo.
When people have to go,
Then they really must know,
How to go with the flow,
Or they will not glow.
I don't know what those poems ment but I felt like expressing myself to the blogging world today. I'm going to go skateboarding today after school at a friend's house. I'm hoping to learn front side 180's and fakie front side 180's. Also I want to land a pop shove it moving and get the spin for my kickflip. That all probably will not happen today but I'm going to work on it. I'm going to start on my 15 image slide show now so I'll talk to you later blogspot.com! BYEE

MY LIFE!
Something really cool but random happened to me yesterday. I was eating dinner and my mom came up to me and handed me a letter from my grandmother. Usually I only get a letter from her on my birthday and it has $100 in it with a really cool card along with it. It usually is a few words saying "Do good in school" or something similar to that. This time it was all in Japanese and it was many paragraphs long. I had my mom read it to me in Japanese and I tried to figure out what it said but I only understood a few sentences from it. So she translated it for me. It was telling me that they want me to keep doing good in school and that I was almost a grown up. It also had $300.00 in it, which was a very nice surprise. I am working part time so I can buy a vehicle so that helped out a lot. Next Friday I get my first pay check which will be about $200.

Career goals
My career goals are still questionable to me. I'm not sure what I want to do in the future but I know that I will be going to college. I thought I wanted to be a counselor but then I found out a lot of them turn crazy. I love helping people but I don't know if I want to sit there all day and listen to people's problems. I'm hoping I figure out what I want to be by senior year.

SPORTS
I used to love soccer when I was little. I think I liked it so much because my sister always played it. I started to play it when I was very little like around the age of 5 years old. I played for many years straight and was mvp of a lot of the teams. I still like it to this day but don't play anymore because it's more like about winning now rather than just for fun, which I don't like as much. I like football too but never really got into it. I wanted to do freshman football for my school but if I were to start I would be so late into the season and I would have been too far behind everyone else. That's all for today! BYE

Bad Parents
This blog is going to be about what should happen to parents that leave their children in the car on a hot day. I think that's just non-parent like, and they should get in a lot of trouble. First of all I think they should get a ticket and talk to a judge about how to treat their children. Some people just run into the store really quick and leave their cars on with the AC on. I think that's just as bad or even worse than leaving a child in a car without AC. The kid could go into the driver's seat and accidently put it into drive, crash the car, and get injured. Bottom line is that leaving your kid or any kid in a car on hot day or not, is a very bad idea.

What I learned yesterday...
Yesterday I learned that I don't have to pay for insurance right when I get my driver's licence. Up until yesterday I thought you had to pay for insurance as soon as you got one. That is why I havn't gotten my licence yet but now that I know I can, my mom told me I have to start practicing driving again. My mom's rules were that I wasn't aloud to drive until I got a job. Now I currently work at BJ's car wash so she let me drive yesterday. I was a little jerky due to me not being used to her car. But I didn't crash, so I think I did good overall. Driving is really easy..

My weekend 8/22/11
This weekend was the start of my working career. Saturday I started my first paid job at Bj's car wash. I worked from 8:15 am to 3:40 pm vacuuming out cars. I work there with my friends Zac and John. We worked all day in the hot sun with no lunch break. When we finally asked our shift leader when we got to take our break she sent us home. The following day we worked again at 8:00 am with a new shift leader. This shift leader was a lot better than the previous one because he was more laid back. He actually gave us a lunch break and we went to jack in the box to eat. When we got back we worked till closing time at 5:00. It wasn't as busy as saturday.

Ken Robinson
Ken Robinson made many good points in his speach. He made me think about how education isn't very important now-a-days. In the past people who had a degree out of college they had a job. Everyone who didn't have a job in that time didn't want one. What I mean by that is that people could get a job so easily back then. He also mentioned that if you are not prepared to be wrong, you will never do something original. I think that is very true but we live in a time that being wrong is a very bad thing. In this day in age if you make a mistake at your job you will be fired. This frightens many people into not being original due to them not being prepared to be wrong. Hopefully the world changes so that people can feel confident about what they do without worrying about being wrong. That was what caught my attention about Ken Robinson's speach that I listened to today.
Blogday number 2 ;)
I spent my whole summer in Portland, Oregon with my dad. It was the longest I've ever stayed with him since my mom and him got divorced, so I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out. Usually when I visit him his house there's a lot of changes made to it. This year there wasn't much different. He told me that he had many projects for us to do this summer. We cleared out the side of his yard which had a lot of old wood that he had got for free over time. We built two fences that were about 100 feet long out of wood which took quite a while. We also built many benches all around his yard for his guests to sit down. He had a lot of parties throughout the summer with some of his friends. Another thing I did this summer was, I got a intern position at a coffee shop. It was called Wind Horse Coffee and Tea. I really enjoyed my time that I spent there and learned a lot. Since I got that intern position I now have a lot to put on my resume which helped me get a part time job that I currently have. That's all for today! Bye

My first blog!
My name is Jonah Michael and I am new at blogging. Yesterday during media production I was supposed to make a Blog which I did. Before I came into media production I never knew what a blog was so I looked it up on google. I guess it's like a diary on the internet. I'm not sure why but it kind of seems like I'm talking to myself. Oh wait, that's because I am... Anyways I like having my own website even though it's a blogging one because I like being able to make it look the way I want it to look. I have always liked editing and filming stuff which is why i took media productions. Hopefully it turns out being a really cool class that I'm expecting it to be. Well this has been Jonah Michael's first blog, and I hope I did this right because it kind of seems like I just talked to myself. Who knows, maybe that's what a blog is supposed to be like.
